Library Frequently Asked Questions Grade K-5
  • How long can students check out library books?
    • Library books checkout for two 6 day cycles (approximately two weeks). The due date is printed on a receipt that students tuck inside their book.
    • If a book is returned late, the student will not be able to get another book out until that late book has been returned. There are NO LATE FEES! Fines will only be assessed for lost or damaged books!
  • How many books can students check out at a time?
    • All students in grades 1 through 5 may checkout two books at a time.  Kindergarten may check out one book at a time.
  • What if the student is not done reading their book?
    • Library books can be renewed twice. To do so, simply have your child ask at the circulation desk while they are in class.  Students are taught this throughout the year.
  • How often can a student check out new books?
    • Every student has the opportunity to check out books at least once, but often twice, in a two 6 day cycles.
  • When should library books be returned so that my child can check out new books?
    • Students should return their books by bringing them to library class on or before the due date marked on the receipt tucked inside their books. Students may also use the book drop by the kindergarten wing at least one day before their library class.

  • When can students visit the library? 
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Students may visit the library in the morning between 7:30 - 8:00 or during KANE period.
  • When should library books be returned so that my students can check out new books?
    • Students should return their books by bringing them to library on or before the due date marked on the receipt tucked inside their books. 
  • ​​​​​​​How many books can students check out at a time?
    • ​​​​​​​Students can check out two books at a time. 
  • ​​​​​​​What if the student is not done reading their book? 
    • ​​​​​​​Students can renew books up to two times as long as it is not on hold for another student.​​​​​​​
