KASD Closed and all afterschool activities canceled 11/23/2022
November 22, 2022

KASD Families,

School and all afterschool activities will be canceled Wednesday, 11/23. This school day will be made up on the first make-up day scheduled for Friday, February 17.

Pennsylvania State Police and local police were at the middle school campus today to provide a presence in response to an anonymous threat. Pennsylvania State Police are conducting the investigation into the threat. At 3:00 p.m. this afternoon the KASD Administrative team met with Troopers from the Lewis Run barracks and they requested that school be closed on Wednesday to give them an opportunity to complete their investigation. We are going to accommodate law enforcement with this request.

I understand the desire for additional details; however, this is currently an active investigation that includes juveniles. Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact PSP Lewis Run or PSP Ridgway. Contact information is included at the bottom of this letter.

Please know that this decision was made in partnership with Pennsylvania State Police, and it was determined that this is the best step forward to investigate and resolve this threat. The safety of our staff and students is our top priority. We will continue working with law enforcement throughout the investigation.
